People ask me, “Jean, why did you write a book about orgasm and sexuality?” I am encouraging freedom within sexuality. I want people to feel fantastic about their sexuality, about who they are and what they love, and to embrace who they are. So that sexuality is not hidden and so we don’t feel embarrassed about it.
It’s not just about sex … it’s about what we’re pursuing and what we love in life and it’s about what’s important to us. It’s about feeling whole and complete. It’s about the fact that life is sexy – it’s all around us. We just need to see it.
I’m encouraging communication with our partners. And hopefully with our children ... So when they’re ready and they’re asking for good answers ... We feel confident to speak truthfully to them. Wouldn’t it be great to decrease sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies because we have open honest communication?
I didn’t want to scientifically collect data from women about sex. I just wanted them to talk openly, and to talk about their unique experiences and feelings. Heterosexual, swinger, polyamorist, lesbian, pansexual, transgender, love going down, spiritual, old, young, homeless, loveless … these are some of the extraordinary people I interviewed.
I wanted to communicate through these women’s stories that it’s so much more than how firm your ass is or how few wrinkles you have on your face … It’s about what makes YOU come ALIVE!!! And how you can feel more confident, engaged in life, & downright sexy!
